Richland County Special Recycling Event - Sat., Oct. 20, 2018

Posted Monday, October 15, 2018

Richland County and Lexington County are teaming up to hold a free recycling event for residents in both counties to properly dispose of a variety of items – from household chemicals to furniture.

The event is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at Irmo High School, 6671 St. Andrews Road.

Residents can drop off electronics, scrap metal and household hazardous waste, and bring paper documents for shredding. In addition to these items, residents are encouraged to bring clothing, furniture and household items to be reused by Goodwill Industries – and thereby keeping them out of landfills. Also, any South Carolina resident or farmer may bring outdated, unusable or unwanted pesticides to be disposed of safely.

We do not have another viable option to dispose of the garbage. We are officially cancelling sanitation services for Thursday. Please help us get the word out to your neighbors and anyone who has service on Thursdays. We will make every effort to resume service once the landfill reopens.

Further, the City’s Municipal Court session, scheduled for the morning of 10/11/18, has been cancelled.
