Household Hazardous Materials and Pesticide Collection Event

On Saturday, May 12, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) will be holding a Household Hazardous Materials Event for Richland County residents at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds.

Sanitation - Good Friday

The City of Forest Acres administrative offices will be closed Friday, March 30, 2018 in observance of the Good Friday holiday.  However, the sanitation department will operate as normal.  Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Debris routes will, therefore, be unchanged the week of 3/26/18 - 3/30/18.

Kassy Alia, the widow of FAPD officer Greg Alia, has an important announcement about the organization she founded in the wake of her husband's line-of-duty death in September 2015.  With a refined mission and a new brand, Heroes in Blue is now Serve & Connect.  Our own Chief Sealy, along with many community partners, assisted with the unveiling at Richland Mall on Monday, March 19.

Kassy notes:  "...we are refining our mission to put more emphasis on the partnerships that empower, build trust, and create lasting impact. We’re updating our name from Heroes in Blue to better reflect this expanded position."

Sanitation - President's Day Holiday

The City of Forest Acres, including the Sanitation Department, will observe the President's Day holiday on Monday February 19, 2018.  The Garbage/Recycling pick-up schedule for the week will change, as follows:

  • Monday's route will be run on Tuesday, February 20
  • Tuesday's route will be run on Wednesday, February 21
  • Thursday and Friday's routes will be unchanged

Yard debris will be collected Tuesday through Friday as Sanitation staff is available.
