May 9, 2017 Municipal Election CANCELLED

Only incumbent council members Shell Suber and Beau Powell filed as candidiates to run in the May election. Accordingly, the city's Municipal Election Commission met on Friday, March 24th, and pursuant to state law declared the incumbents re-elected and the election cancelled.  The next general municipal election in Forest Acres is scheduled for May 14, 2019, at which time it will be determined who will hold the seats for mayor and two council members going forward.

Decker Blvd. Cleanup (Gills Creek Watershed Association)

Help us for this year's Great American Cleanup on Saturday, March 11 from 9am to noon. We'll be cleaning up along Decker Blvd as part of our Palmetto Pride litter reduction project. Meet at the parking lot off Decker Blvd at the end of O'Neil Ct, across the street from Chick Fil A. Come for an hour, or come for the whole time! Wear appropriate clothing and footwear. When:  Saturday, February 11, 2017 (8:00a - 12:00p)

Where:  Crayton Middle School, 5000 Clemson Ave, Columbia, SC  29206

What:   Recycle electronics, scrap metal and tires; Shred paper

Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday - Sanitation Schedule

The City of Forest Acres will observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017.  


The sanitation pick-up schedule will change accordingly:

  • Monday's route will be run on Tuesday, Jan. 17
  • Tuesday's route will be run on Wednesday, Jan. 18
  • Thursday and Friday's routes will remain unchanged
