All City of Columbia Customers are No Longer Under Boil Water Advisory
City officials are pleased to announce that as of 4pm, Wednesday, October 14, 2015, all areas served by the City of Columbia’s Water Works no longer need to boil their water prior to drinking or cooking. The official repeal is below.
Portions of the area served by the City were removed from the system-wide boil water advisory between Wednesday, October 7, and Monday, October 11. This repeal removes all customers from the advisory.
What Now?
Customers should flush all of their faucets and empty any ice trays made from water during this advisory. Customers with automatic ice-makers may want to continue disposing of their ice until they are sure the lines serving their ice-makers are clear.

The City of Columbia Water Works advises the water customers of the Downtown area east of the Broad River including USC Campus, Forest Acres and Arcadia Lakes, as well as customers in the Southeast along Garner’s Ferry, and all areas east of Interstates 77 and 277 located in Richland County that they no longer need to boil their water prior to drinking or cooking.
Following an intense flushing of the distribution system, bacteriological samples were collected and analyzed by the City of Columbia Water Works. The results of this sampling indicate that the system is safe to use for drinking and cooking purposes.
This completes the repeal of the System Wide Boil Water Advisory issued 10-4-2015.
