SC Storm Survivors Urged to Register for Disaster Assistance with Small Business Association

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has produced public service announcements (see below) to encourage South Carolina business owners, homeowners and renters who were affected by the recent flooding to apply for SBA disaster assistance. The broadcast quality videos feature Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and member of President Obama's Cabinet, and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

On October 21, Contreras-Sweet met with Governor Haley and Mayor Stephen Benjamin to announce additional SBA resources available to aid the region’s recovery. The SBA has opened several Disaster Recovery Centers in South Carolina where consumers can apply for low interest federal disaster loans. The deadline to apply for physical property damage is December 4, 2015.

Additional details on the locations of Disaster Recovery Centers and the loan application process can be obtained by calling the SBA Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 (800-877-8339 for the deaf and hard-of-hearing) or by sending an e-mail to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
