Richland Recycles Day - Friday, May 16

On May 16 at the State Fairgrounds, Richland County is giving residents the opportunity to responsibly rid themselves of rubbish at Richland Recycles Day.

Electronics, paint, household chemicals, mattresses and more will be accepted for proper disposal. The event will also offer paper shredding and pesticide collection.

At last year’s event – recognized in December by Keep the Midlands Beautiful with its Green Event Award – nearly 1,300 people dropped off more than 100 tons of recyclable material.

Most of the material collected was destined to be recycled into new products, thereby creating jobs, reducing pollution and diverting items from local landfills. Organizers hope to collect more this year. The event for residential customers only will be held 7 a.m.- 6 p.m. Friday, May 16 at the State Fairgrounds.
