- Building- Construction, renovations or repairs on new or existing homes and business
- Plumbing- Construction, renovations or repairs on new or existing homes and business
- Electrical- Construction, renovations or repairs on new or existing homes and business
- Mechanical- Construction, renovations or repairs on new or existing homes and business
- Gas- Construction, renovations or repairs on new or existing homes and business
- Tree- Removal of trees
- Work- Nonstructural renovations or repairs on new or existing homes and business
- Demolition Permit
WHO CAN APPLY FOR PERMITS
- General Contractors
- Residential Home Builders
- Home Owners [only authorized for structural framing, any trade certifications they personally possess and specialty items such as masonry, decks, vinyl siding, roof replacement, etc.]
- Trade Contractors and businesses [electrician, plumber, etc]
- Specialty Contractors [contract not to exceed $5000.00]
PERMIT APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Appropriate licensure from SCLLR for Contractors
- City of Forest Acres Business License for Contractors
- Proof of Residency for Home Owners
- Plat of the property for New Structures or Additions
- Certified Plans for Building New Structures, Additions or Supplemental Structures
- Sketch of Floor plan for Non-structural renovation
When Additional Information or Permits are Necessary
- General Contractors need to supply a Subcontractor list for Commercial Projects. All Subcontractors need to obtain separate Permits and maintain a City of Forest Acres Business License.
- Home Owner obtaining permits requires Permits and Business Licenses for all subcontractors.
- Permits are not required for Subcontractors used by a General Contractor or Residential Home Builder for a Residential Project, but Business Licenses and SCLLR certifications are required and a Subcontractor list.
